Invention of the Telephone
In 1876 the telephone race between Gray and Bell unfolded. Both came up with their own separate methods and patents of transmitting sound on the same day in early 1876. But Bell created a fully successful machine first. On March 10, 1876 his first audible words were uttered in a test experiment with the telephone to his lab assistant Mr. Thomas Watson. They were, "Mr. Watson - come here - I want to see you." From there it wasn't long until everyone wanted in on the new technology. The Bell Telephone Company was established in 1877 to commercialize the telephone.
