Invention of the Kodak Camera
In 1888, the very first Kodak Camera hit the market with the famous slogan, "You press the button, we do the rest." For $25.00 a person could take 100 "pictures" and then send their camera back to the company. There, the film was developed and the camera was reloaded and sent back to the sender (with the developed film). The irony was in the brand name of the camera. Supposedly Eastman called the camera a Kodak because he believed that products should have their own identity. Yet a few years after launching the Kodak camera, Eastman changed the company name to Eastman Kodak.
